ART 1: 3D
THEME #1 2D to 3D CONTINUED
PLANAR & GEOMETRIC SCULPTURE
We will be translating the organic features of animals and creatures into simplified, geometric versions.
Limited materials: Cardboard - Paper - Glue
How will these pieces of cardboard and paper attach to one another?
What "sacrifices" will we make to create the suggestion of this animal with simplified shapes?
1. Creating the initial structure of animal
2. Adding specific textures

"Using salvaged material we create sculptural installations occupied by large-scale or life-size characters and creatures. We have been influenced on varying levels by 1990's cartoons, animations, along with set designs and films. Creatures and anthropomorphic beasts have been the focus of our study, but compliment a mutual interest in creating environments and transformative art experiences. The narratives are fairly open, but encourage our viewers to be transported into the world of our sculptures."

THEME #1 2D to 3D
"FIGURATIVE" COLLAGE SCULPTURE
What makes a 2D work of art different from a 3D work of art? (In the way it is constructed, the way it is displayed...)
How can we combine two dimensional materials (paper, fabric) to create three dimensional "forms"?
What is a figurative sculpture? How can we push the boundaries of "the figure"?
